Field Report #1 - The Fallen

Introduction:

The Field Report will be a report detailing all known information surrounding a certain topic. Each new report will be issued containing information on a new topic. These topics are not limited to enemy races, but can be expanded to other things such as items, consumables, characters, etc. This time we have a report fully detailing The Fallen, who they are, known houses, etc. Without further adieu, let’s go:

Who are The Fallen?

The Fallen were once a highly prosperous and proud race from an unknown galaxy. Their society was broken up into Houses of high nobility, each led by a Kell. To us, they are known as The Fallen, as that is what they are- a once proud race, now fallen. The true name of their race is Eliksni.

Wait...so what happened to them?

Like us, they were visited by The Traveler, and were given its blessings. However, the Darkness followed it, forcing it to flee, ultimately abandoning the Eliksni. Many of the Elisksni fled in their massive Ketches, while most of them died.

So what are they doing here- in our System?

The Fallen, since their downfall, have been seeking The Traveler in hopes of reclaiming it. After some searching, they found it here in our System, and have taken over our worlds to reclaim it. Take a look below to see everything that we currently know about The Fallen in our System:

Fallen Hierarchy

Every Eliksni has a place in their house’s society. Here are the differences between them.

Dreg

Dregs cling to the lowest rung of Fallen society. Docked of their lower arms in a ritual of humiliation and obedience, Dregs seek to prove their worth. Only a few will survive to gain promotion and regrow their limbs. Their suicidal bravery is fueled by ambition and shame.

Vandal

Soldiers, Brawlers, Assassins and Scouts. Vandals are seasoned regulars who fill the skilled roles within a Fallen crew. Whether from a distance, or up close and personal, they are seasoned, efficient killers, with an arsenal of weaponry and tech to match their bloodlust.

Captain

Having clawed and knifed his way to the top, scattering bodies and limbs in his wake, the Captain is the strongest and most ferocious member of the crew he musters around himself. His ration of Ether is the largest, his blades the sharpest, his guns the finest. Upon his shoulders hangs the flag of his House, if he swears loyalty to any. For his crew, the slightest hesitation to comply earns a slash from his sword. Defiance results in immediate amputation, if he is in a good mood, or death, if he is not.

Baron

Barons are political leaders sent by the Kell of a house, usually to negotiate with others- or to assassinate. Skillwise, there is very little that differentiates a Baron from a Captain- the only major difference is their political status and relationship with their House’s Kell.

Archon

Archons are high priests of a house that act as the intermediary between a Kell and a Prime Servitor. If an Archon falls. Archons are known to protect their House with extreme zeal and will do anything if it means preventing the death of the Prime Servitor or Kell.

Kell

A Kell is the political leader of a House, and the commander of their House’s Ketch. Kells are like Archons- big and powerful and their death can greatly weaken a House. It has been noted that if a Kell dies, their House becomes vulnerable to infighting.

Fallen Houses

Every Eliksni belongs to a house. In our Solar System there are six known houses.

The House of Devils

Primary Location: Cosmodrome, Old Russia, Earth

Color Scheme: Red

“The Devils take whatever Nature has yet to reclaim” -Master Rahool

The House of Devils is arguably the most reckless of all Houses in our Solar System. They have completely taken over most of the Cosmodrome in Old Russia, and are responsible for the destruction of London during The Collapse. It has also been noted that the Devils have also committed great strength to scouring the Cosmodrome, and seem to be searching for something deep below.

The House of Kings Primary Location: Cosmodrome, Old Russia, Earth

Color Scheme: Gold

“Another great House hides among us.” -Ikora Rey

The House of Kings is the most elusive of all known Houses in our System. They have not been seen anywhere beyond the Cosmodrome. It is believed that this House is the only one that is still fully-intact and fully functioning, despite the other Houses being in an extreme state of decay. It is also believed that the Kings, to some extent, have control over the House of Devils, making them do all their dirty work while the Kings continue to plot their next move. It has been discovered that the Kings were responsible for the battle at Twilight Gap by uniting all Fallen Houses in an attempt to reclaim The Traveler.

The House of Kings currently is the most dangerous House of them all because so little is known about them.

The House of Exile

Primary Designation: Ocean of Storms, Earth’s Moon

Color Scheme: Green

“They live among the Hive, of course they’re crazy!” - Cayde-6

The House of Exile is where all the rejects and traitors from the other Houses in the System go. They seem to be mostly comprised of Dregs and seek to maintain some sort of presence on the moon. They have also attempted many incursions on the Hellmouth. It is known that the Exiles do as they please, and do not bow to any Kells or other Fallen leaders.

The House of Winter

Primary Location: Ishtar Sink, Venus

Color Scheme: Teal

“Their greed is as much a threat as their blades.” -Commander Zavala

The House of Winter has been seen operating within and around the Ishtar Sink on Venus. Reports suggest they may be focused on pillaging the ruins of the Ishtar Academy, scouring it for its secrets, but there are also concerns that their efforts may be directed towards the Vex Citadel. It is currently known that their Kell, Draksis, has been assassinated by a fireteam of Guardians. Their Prime Servitor, Simiks Prime is rumored to have been destroyed long ago. Since then, the House of Winter has been known to join the forces of the House of Wolves in an attempt to unite the Fallen Houses, however their efforts have failed as the House of Wolves has been broken.

The House of Wolves:

Primary Location: Meridian Bay, Mars / Prison of Elders, The Reef

Color Scheme: Dark Blue

“These ones are mine.” - The Queen

The House of Wolves is arguably the most ruthless of the Fallen Houses. They have been known to attack the Queen’s Forces in an event known as The Reef Wars, escape from the Prison of Elders, attempt to unite Fallen Houses under their own banner, and take over a Cabal firebase on Mars. The Wolves are also known to have invaded the Vault of Glass on Venus and have stolen Vex Technology. Their Kell, Skolas has also been known to use this Vex Technology to time travel, allowing him to see what is commonly believed to be the arrival of Oryx, the King of the Hive and the Taken. Additionally, the House of Winter, Devils and Kings thought the Wolves betrayed them as they failed to be in attendance for the battle of Twilight Gap.

The House of Judgment:

Primary Location: Vestian Outpost, The Reef

Color Scheme: Bright Green

The House of Judgment serves to keep each of the Fallen Houses in order. The House of Judgment however did not survive the Whirlwind and went down with the ancient Houses. The last known survivor, who was once a Scribe to the House of Wolves, now offers allegiance to the Queen in The Reef and seeks to rebuild his House.

Fallen Arsenal

The Fallen are a very crafty race. With their arrival came the tools that they use to attack and defend.

Shock Pistol Shock Pistols are small sidearms that are only carried by Dregs. They are fast firing and shoot Arc bullets.

Shock Grenade Another Fallen weapon used only by Dregs. Shock Grenades appear similar to a Titan’s Lightning Grenade but behave drastically different. They have about a 3-second charge time, resulting in an explosion with a relatively small AoE. These deal Arc damage.

Shock Dagger

Shock Daggers are only wielded by Dregs. They are used by Dregs to melee enemy targets and deal Arc damage.

Shock Rifle

Shock Rifles are wielded by both Vandals and Captain variants. They are capable of firing three-to-four rounds per second and have tracking capability and deal Arc damage.

Shock Blade

Shock Blades are melee weapons used in place of artillery. They deal arc damage and are frequently used by Stealth Vandals and Stealth Captains but can also be used by normal variants of both.

Shrapnel Launcher

Shrapnel Launchers are the most devastating of weapons in the Fallen arsenal. They deal bursts of Solar damage and are fast firing. Taken variants of this weapon deal Arc damage.

Wire Rifle

Wire Rifles are only used by Vandal variants and are long-range weapons used to snipe enemy targets. They deal Arc damage. Taken variants of this weapon fire Solar damage.

Fallen Fleet

The Fallen have multiple ways to travel to, and from destinations, as well as secure key points.

Ketch

A ketch is the largest of all ships in the Fallen fleet. Ketches are usually named after a house’s Prime Servitor, for example in the mission “Scourge of Winter” on Venus, the ketch that belongs to the House of Winter where Draksis hid was named Wintership Simiks-Fel, and in another part of the game, the Wolves had a Ketch named Wolfship Kaliks-Syn. Ketches are used to transport the bulk of a House.

Skiff

Skiffs are smaller transport vehicles that act more like a Drop Ship, delivering waves of enemies to destinations. Skiffs are equipped with Arc Cannons that can deal a tremendous amount of damage to a Guardian. Skiffs are also equipped with cloaking technology to fly through the air undetected, but will only disrupt their cloaking when coming in to drop off enemy troops.

Pike

Pikes are essentially the Fallen’s version of a Sparrow. It’s not very fast though, but has the ability to fire off dual arc turrets. These turrets deal a lot of damage and fire fast, though the longer the trigger is held, the slower it fires over time. It has been noted that only Dregs so far have been seen using Pikes.

Heavy Pike

Heavy Pikes are used exclusively by the Wolves and are as the name suggests- heavy variants of a Pike. These move very slow and the boost doesn’t give much extra speed. The arc cannons on a Heavy Pike by default also shoot much slower than their lighter variant, however the projectiles do more damage, and they are also equipped by default with mines which can be deployed by strafing and they tend to seek out enemies.

Spider Tank

Spider Tanks (or Fallen Walkers) are deployed for siege or defense tactics. They have six legs and are equipped with a rapid fire turret, heavy arc turret and a rocket launcher. Spider Tanks are extremely dangerous at any level, and should not be attacked recklessly. To destroy one, you need to destroy the armor on each of its legs, which will periodically expose the core- when the core is exposed you should maximize damage on it. Repeat until it self destructs. Spider Tanks can even deploy mines and shanks. It has been noted that Spider Tanks are fully automated, and do not require a manual operator.

Fallen Leadership

Out of each Fallen house, here is a list of all the leaders of Fallen society, dead or alive:

House of Devils

  • Riksis, Devil Archon

  • Riksis was first encountered when you first rose. He attempted to stop you from taking off in a Jumpship, but you later came back and killed him. It has been said that Riksis collects the skulls of the Guardians he kills. It is unclear if he collects them as trophies or offers them to a Prime Servitor.

  • Sepiks Prime

  • Sepiks Prime sustains the life of the House of Devils and has been spotted hiding beneath a Colony Ship in the Cosmodrome. He was killed by a fireteam of Guardians.

  • Keksis, Devil Captain

  • Taken by Oryx to become Betrayed.

  • S.A.B.E.R.-2

  • S.a.b.e.r.-2 was encountered by Guardians in a weapons testing facility within Rasputin’s bunker below the Cosmodrome. While it was quickly dispersed, it was noted that this Shank had been greatly modified with a much larger chassis than normal Shanks, and had the ability to control various mechanisms within the testing facility. SABER-2 was also equipped with three different weapons, each possessing a different element. It is unclear if this contraption was created by the Fallen to assault Rasputin or if it was captured and modified by Rasputin himself to test the Guardians strength. It is also noted SABER-2’s only reinforcements are composed of Servitors and Shanks only.

House of Kings

  • Paksin, King Baron

  • Paksin was deployed to the array station within the Terrestrial Complex in response to the Hive invasion led by Omnigul. He was ultimately killed by Guardians, however his ultimate goal was unknown. Much of the House of Kings’ leadership is unknown.

  • Paskin and Vekis, King Barons

  • During Skolas’ invasion of the Cosmodrome, Paskin and Vekis were sent to meet one of Skolas’ barons to discuss an alliance in the Kings’ Watch by their Kell. It has been suspected that Paskin and Vekis were actually sent to assassinate Skolas’ emissary though their true purpose is ultimately unknown. Paskin and Vekis, along with Skolas’ baron were killed by a Guardian who attempted to deny Skolas the House of Kings.

House of Exile

  • Frigoris, Exiled Baron

  • Frigoris is a Baron who was exiled from an unknown house. It has been noted that common theory suspects he was exiled from the House of Kings. He was encountered by a Guardian at the Gatehouse inside the Hellmouth and was killed.

House of Winter

  • Simiks-3

  • Simiks-3 was born of parts from Winter’s Prime Servitor- Simiks Prime. Upon closer examination, scans confirm Simiks-3 has been engineered specifically to process and transfer data at incredible speeds with nearby Servitors.

  • Draksis, Winter Kell

  • Draksis was the Kell of the House of Winter. He has been spotted operating within the Ishtar Sink from a Ketch inside the mountains. A Guardian has been dispatched to the Ketch and was successful in the assassination. Draksis was responsible for raids on many Guardian outposts across Venus and was considered a thorn in the City’s side.

House of Wolves

  • The Silent Fang

  • Commanded by the fearsome Drevis, Wolf Baroness, the Silent Fang are a unit of elite stealth warriors and assassins. Instrumental in Skolas' rise to kellship among the Wolves, the Silent Fang also menaced the Queen during the Reef War. It was Drevis and the Silent Fang who razed Amethyst, and then tricked the Queen's Armada at the Battle of Iris. Though the Silent Fang suffered a serious blow when Drevis was finally thrown in the Prison of Elders after the Siege of Pallas, they continued to threaten the Queen's forces until the war's end. Now that Drevis roams free once again, the Fang have set their sights on Earth, and they must be stopped.

  • Yavek, Wolf Baron

  • Yavek was a minor lieutenant of Skolas during the Reef Wars who evaded capture after the Cybele Uprising. After Skolas returned to the House of Wolves, he named Yavek a Baron to reward his loyalty, and sent him to Earth to be his negotiator with the House of Kings and Devils.

  • Pilot Servitors

  • Pilot Servitors were not typically utilized as combatants in Fallen battle plans. Their purpose was manning the flight of various Fallen ships, from crew transports to massive war-barges. During the Reef Wars, however, Skolas crafted brutal new tactics to inflict maximum destruction upon the Awoken, including suicide attacks led by Pilot Servitors. With the wounds of the Reef Wars renewed by the House of Wolves' betrayal, the Queen no longer abides their presence in her Reef.

  • Aksor, Archon Priest

  • A disciple of the Prime Servitor Kaliks, Aksor initiated brutal crusades against human settlements beyond the City and ravaged countless Awoken enclaves throughout the Reef. When the Queen waged her war against the Wolves, Aksor was taken alive and sealed into the infamous Prison of Elders. There he remained, until Taniks, at the behest of the House of Winter, broke him free from his imprisonment. Killing Aksor before he can join Winter's ranks will weaken the Fallen, strengthen ties to the Reef, and bring the City one step closer to gaining a solid foothold along the Shattered Coast.

  • Skolas, Wolf Kell

  • When Virixas, the original Kell of Wolves, was killed by the Queen in the Reef Wars, Skolas was the head of a faction that moved to seize control. He fought against Irxis and Parixas, and managed to overpower and outsmart each in order to gain the Kellship. He battled the Awoken forces in a bloody war, but was eventually betrayed by Variks, which led to his capture when he launched what was meant to be a surprise attack on the military fortress at Cybele. He was held in the Prison of Elders, until the Queen decided to send him as a gift to the Nine, who in turn released him, for reasons unknown. Now he calls himself the Kell of Kells, and stands to reunite the Fallen Houses under one banner. He cannot be allowed to succeed, for the sake of the Last City.

Fallen Allies

Fallen who are not loyal to any house, and have devoted themselves to helping the Guardians.

House of Judgment

  • Variks, The Loyal

  • Variks has no loyalty to the Fallen Houses or their Kells, or their Prime Servitors and Archons. His love goes to Queen, Mara Sov, of the Reef. Variks betrayed Skolas before the attack on Cybele and now works alongside Petra to command the Reef’s forces. Variks also is the warden of the Prison of Elders and offers rewards to Guardians who fight and survive its many dangers. Variks is also the last known survivor of the House of Judgment and seeks to rebuild his House someday.
