WELCOME BACK!

HYPE HYPE HYPE!! If you missed ANY of the new information regarding Rise of Iron this week, we've got you covered. Monday morning was a Christmas bounty of new info and images, spoilers and more... and we have more to learn as the month rolls on. This week we'll discuss the LUX Activity Check, drop some seeds of new ideas coming for the group, and introduce the next BIG event created by one of our own members! Strap yourselves in... we're going full speed into this!!

NEW TO THE COMMUNITY OR BAND?

  • Make sure your name on BAND is your PSN (not a variation of it). Another acceptable display name is your PSN followed by your first name in brackets.

  • Make sure you have an avatar; It’s so much easier to figure out and associate who is talking.

  • We have a few simple rules to help keep our clan awesome…

  • 1. Be respectful, to your clanmates and admins. Harassment, arguing, or general misconduct are the fastest ways to be removed from the clan.

  • Reports of RAGE QUITTING will receive one warning.A second offense will result in removal from the clan. (Rage quitting is defined as rudely exiting a game; whether that is PvP, or PvE related. We're all adults here, act like it if something is going wrong)

  • 2. Be helpful. No one likes a lifeless group or a lack of a team for challenges. Hop in a new fire team every now and help out.

  • 3. Have fun and be mature. Joking around is ok, but let’s keep it relatively clean and appropriate. You’ll be warned once if you cross a line. Don’t be that guy to get booted for breaking a rule. No one likes that guy.

LUX IMPORTANT INFO

- ACTIVITY CHECK INFO: Tuesday August 2nd, we launched our first bi-monthly Activity Check and have had a few questions arise with it. Let's clear the air and iron out the details.

  • All LUX member will have one week to mark respond to the check.

  • On Tuesday August 9th, all members who have failed to respond to the check will be removed from all chatrooms and placed in a PENDING REMOVAL chatroom.

  • Members in the removal list will have 14-days to respond. Failure to respond will result in loss of the LUX clan tag and removal from our Band chat.

  • The ONLY valid reason for missing the initial check a pre-notified LOA. (We have a list of 5 members who contacted the admins a week prior to the check and are immune to this check.)

  • Anyone removed after the 14-day window is welcome to return if we have room, however your original clan tag is not guaranteed to be available.

We do not wish to see anyone removed from the group, but this activity check as well as all future checks serve as a way to make sure we keep our group active and involved.

AS OF 4PM PST ON 8/5/16:

124 members have viewed the check - 120 responded - 70 have not responded at all.

Check with your friends to make sure they've responded before they get pulled from the chats.

- As RISE OF IRON approaches, you're running out of time to complete your Moments of Triumph. To help ensure everyone is getting the help they need to complete their missions, we will be posting reminders each week at reset and issuing incentive rewards (physical rewards to be discussed next week) for folks who go above and beyond the call of duty.

As of right now, KILLER_OF_EPICZ is the most frequently seen member helping with Moments and has received numerous kudos messages sent to myself (WLinden) via private messages. Killer, expect a reward as soon as they're available.

FROM BUNGIE

Check out this week's update from Bungie right HERE

They did it guys... they broke the internet for a day. This week, Bungie announced the winners for the community shirt design contest (with some very cool designs we would totally sport), but most importantly they allowed GameInformer to break the silence regarding so much new info from Rise of Iron. While we understand many of our members are on a Destiny break due to the content drought, get ready to dig your teeth into some fresh, new content.

From new locations, to renovated familiar locations, so much has changed in the Cosmodrome. Old Russia has been torn apart by Splicers and is covered in snow. It's our job to return to our home and defend it from this new threat. As you start your next journey to become an Iron Lord, new challenges will present themselves along with moments to test your skills as a Hunter, Titan, or Warlock.

While we really want to share everything with you, we understand some of you are avoiding the images to keep the experience a surprise. We respect that and will tell you now to skip past this section if you want to avoid any spoilers.

Included in the gallery is a list of what we can expect from Rise of Iron, images of Old Russia, and details for each of the new Iron Lord artifacts you can use to alter your subclass in new, exciting ways. You will also find teasers of the new armor sets available, excluding faction armor which will be shown at a later date. Near the end of the gallery you'll also find some of the new enemies, as well as older foes who have been affected by SIVA.

Next week along with whatever new info Bungie shares with us, we will discuss one of the new PvP features: Supremacy mode - An objective based mode which you earn points from collecting crests from your fallen friends and foes.

If you'd like to read more, check out Bungie's update as well as following the link in Bungie's article to GameInformer's month long coverage of everything Destiny: Rise of Iron.

FROM BLIZZARD

Check out the most recent patch notes from Blizzard right HERE.

This update brought the most new content since Overwatch released. For full details, check the link above.

LIVE through August 22nd, a special seasonal brawl is active. Grab two friends and check out Lucioball! In honor of the Summer Olympics, Blizzard has created a new non-shooter mode which feels like a cross between Rocket League and Megaman Soccer (points if you understand that throwback).

In a 3v3 battle of skills and luck, you'll play as Lucio and engage in a crazy soccer match. Jump boosters, wall riding, and so much Lucio your brain will melt in confusion, make this one crazy mode indeed. As a reward for playing, you'll earn huge XP and can unlock special rewards only available while this event is here! If you skipped the video, check out the goods!

Upon loading the new update, you'll receive a free Loot Box with a guaranteed Summer Games reward. The patch didn't just give us a new mode; some tweaks were done to consoles and general bug fixes were addressed. (Some changes are still being deployed with a future patch) Here's the highlight for tweaks made so far noted:

  • Ana: RoF increased by 20%, ammo capacity increased from 8 to 10.

  • McCree: Primary fire damage falloff reduced by 10 meters, Fan the Hammer RoF increased by 15%, flashbang cooldown reduced from .5 seconds to .35 seconds.

  • Competitive Play: Attacking teams now have 4 minutes (reduced from 5 minutes) to capture A-point.

  • General: "No Builder" and "No Sniper Hero" warnings removed. Replaced "No Support Hero" with "No Healer" message.

LUX EVENTS and bounties

CURRENT BOUNTY: All For One

We tossed out a bone to our PvP heavy players who have skipped out on the previous two LUX Bounties. This weekend only, you can earn 5, 10, or up to 15 points toward your Bounty Hunter rank by reaching the Lighthouse.

To claim the bounty, you need to send a screenshot to WLinden (via Band, Twitter @LuxViatores, or PSN message) from The Lighthouse with your team before Monday night.

UPCOMING BOUNTY: Interstellar Photographer

Can you harness your inner photographer and capture a cool picture? That's the goal with this unique LUX Bounty. You can go solo or with friends... anywhere in Destiny is up for grabs. You can submit a picture for one of two categories and we will have a poll to decide who gets the Bounty Hunter points on Monday 15th.

Starting Tuesday, send your screenshots to WLinden via PSN message and tag the photo with either bold word:

ACTION - Take an action picture: Anything related to battling or movement.

SCENE - Take a environmental picture: Anything in the world of Destiny that looks cool.

This bounty will go live on Tuesday 9th at reset.

CURRENT EVENT:

Prison Duty (Challenge of the Elders event)

We were anticipating a healthy exchange of battle words and banter, and so far the war cries are silent. We're on day 4 of the event and no teams have turned in their high scores and we can only hope that someone is out there running this over and over and over, aiming to break 1-million cumulative points for good ol' bragging rights.

REMEMBER: Cumulative Scores are due to WLinden by Monday evening - 6pm PST!

UPCOMING OVERWATCH MINI-EVENT: Peek-A-Boom!!

Alright, so you may have noticed we postponed the event... we'll admit it... we forgot to post it. That's ok though!! We've made it better!

You guys wanted a sniper battle... we decided to make the snipers work for it.

Introducing PEEK-A-BOOM!

This event is simple and open to adjustments on the fly. One 4 person team will go in as all Widowmakers, while the other team will go as 2 Ana and 2 Junkrat. Map and game style are up to the teams to decide, as well as location for each battle. Originally this was set up to be a Payload challenge, but these changes increase the difficulty to ridiculous levels. Stay Payload or go Capture... either way the Widowmakers will need to be quick on their feet.

Modifiers:

  • Increase Ultimate charge to 150%

  • Increase abilities to 150%

  • Increaee health to 150%

  • Optional: Ana team adjusts to 3 Ana and 1 Junkrat.

Sign-ups for this event will go live tonight, and can take place whenever you're on Overwatch starting Tuesday! (If our Overwatch gamers would like, we can reach out to the Overwatch BAND community and have open invites for scheduled runs)

UPCOMING EVENT: Challenge of the Iron Lords (A Tier Based Raid Event)

Next week we will layout the details for an awesome two-week long event, which was designed by our very own HawkZoned!

Brace yourselves for a raid specific event designed to get you in the groove for all the new content coming with Rise of Iron. Oh... and it's a race. Get your raid legs ready!

Guardian of the month

If you noticed in last week's STARDUST REPORT we made a note about announcing the new Guardian of the Months... well that typo caused some folks to ask when we announce the winners and who it actually was. Let's clear up the time frame question before we announce the winners.

Guardians of the Month are picked before the last day of the month and are announced with the first STARDUST REPORT of the new month. Their name is then posted on our website's homepage for the month, and once replaced they will forever be etched in the Hall of Fame page, coming this week. (We can finally create that page now that ChexicanTaco98 and HawkZoned are stepping down from the mantle.

With that, let's get back to the topic. This month's winners are......

THECOSTLOWS and KILLER_OF_EPICZ

Congratulations you two, expect a message sometime before Monday with some interview questions for next week's STARDUST REPORT! Everyone, please join me with a round of internet applause for these two role models in our community. Thank you two for being helpful and encouraging fun!

GEAR OF THE WEEK

It's that time where we hand the reigns to our Forgemaster to enlighten us with another decrypted engram. This week Chex is giving shotguns some love.

"My mother had a shotgun we called The Chaperone. Kept us alive out there, before we got to the City."

~ Amanda Holliday

This week we look at an exotic shotgun many people seem to put off or simply have not completed the quest to receive it. The Chaperone, currently one of only 3 weapons we have from the Tex Mechanica weapon foundry. The Chaperone is acquired through an exotic quest that isn't too hard, but requires you prove yourself with The Last Word.

The Chaperone in the right hands can be a deadly weapon. It is also very unique from every other shotgun in Destiny due to the fact that it shoots slugs instead of a spread. This being said The Chaperone takes a bit more skill and effort to use effectively.

PvP:

  • One shot kill to the head at range, not a one shot kill to the body

  • Faster fire rate allows for easy follow up shots

  • Exotic perk allows for more range

  • Overall fun to use in the crucible.

PvE:

  • Maybe not the most effective exotic shotgun but not the worst choice

  • Faster fire rate can allow for a lot of damage

  • Solar damage can be useful for strikes with solar burn or solar shielded enemies

  • Probably better off using this in PvP; there are many other exotics better suited for PvE

Oh did I mention the dope whip sound effect? That's pretty cool too. Whappishhh!

The Chaperone, with enough practice can be a lot of fun and can hold its own against others shotguns. Just remember that it's not a one shot kill to the body so aim for the head. That's all from me this week... see ya next time! ~Chex

admin thoughts

The ACTIVITY CHECK is a bitter-sweet tool we have to use. We're hoping for minimal losses due to inactivity, but welcome the removal of those sitting in the corner not supporting this community's focus of helpfulness and fun. Keep "bumping" that recruitment post throughout the day!

Thanks for reading this week’s

STARDUST REPORT!
