WELCOME BACK!

After a very glitch filled week in Destiny, we're back to our old shenanigans. A member was relieved of his banner, while a new group formed from the ashes. We've been gifted a new Moments of Triumph, as well as a slew of changes in Overwatch. Let's dive right into this week's report

NEW TO THE COMMUNITY OR BAND?

  • Make sure your name on BAND is your PSN (not a variation of it). Another acceptable display name is your PSN followed by your first name in brackets.

  • Make sure you have an avatar; It’s so much easier to figure out and associate who is talking.

  • We have a few simple rules to help keep our clan awesome…

  • 1. Be respectful, to your clanmates and admins. Harassment, arguing, or general misconduct are the fastest ways to be removed from the clan.

  • Reports of RAGE QUITTING will receive one warning.A second offense will result in removal from the clan. (Rage quitting is defined as rudely exiting a game; whether that is PvP, or PvE related. We're all adults here, act like it if something is going wrong)

  • 2. Be helpful. No one likes a lifeless group or a lack of a team for challenges. Hop in a new fire team every now and help out.

  • 3. Have fun and be mature. Joking around is ok, but let’s keep it relatively clean and appropriate. You’ll be warned once if you cross a line. Don’t be that guy to get booted for breaking a rule. No one likes that guy.

LUX IMPORTANT INFO

- As we've always discussed, the worst place to be in this group is on the bad list. It take A LOT to get on that list, and we finally had a member cross the line. While their name will not be given the opportunity to sit in the spotlight, we can discuss the situation here one last time. Two of the fastest ways to find yourself exiting our group is to show disrespect to the admins or our members, the other is to violate any of our community's rules. The member removed did both. Upon learning of the first dispute between members, it was clear that our troubled member would not change their ways. After engaging in an exchange of messages, the member proceeded to throw out degrading labels for everyone in the clan. At that point, the guardian was removed from our community.

Our admins will not let someone disrespect our members, especially when it goes to the point of attacking someone's personal life. We're a group built on respect and forgiveness, helping and learning. Let's move on and continue to thrive in our success!

- It brings a smile to my face when we get to mention our internal groups from time-to-time. We're excited to announce the rebranding of two groups in our ranks. Radiant Force has been disbanded and reemerged as CTRL+ALT+MELT.... and Cult of Bros has taken a new name (and kept with our Latin theme) and become Fratres Renascitur, or Brotherhood Reborn for those scratching their heads. Congrats to both groups on their awesome new names. Now get out their and make epic stuff happen!

- We've also posted an article regarding internal groups. The post lays out some guidelines regarding what we woud like to see from groups in our community, and clears up the issue most often asked, "At what point is a group too big?" Feel free to check out the post HERE.

- NEW CHATROOMS ADDED: With the surprising and overwhelming response in our own community, we've opened up a new Pokemon GO chatroom. Break out your PokeDex and polish your balls... it's time to catch 'em all! We've also added a new Paragon chatroom for those members looking for their EPIC MOBA fix.

FROM BUNGIE

Check out the Bungie Day announcement HERE.

Check out this week's update from Bungie right HERE

This week Bungie finally broke their silence regarding the MOMENTS OF TRIUMPH. While the Year 1 challenges were greater in number, they were equally as focused on directing guardians to dive into every aspect of the game. This year's MOMENTS introduced us to a new way to track our progress, and explained each feat required to earn your rewards.

Last year the LAUREA PRIMEA emblem was the prize to claim, and worthy guardians wear it proudly. This year, guardians were greeted with four rewards, two shaders and two emblems. As you'll see above, the challenges are simple, and the rewards are unique.

Claim your rewards before September's launch of RISE OF IRON and become legend!

Not mentioned in the Bungie Update, but equally important and exciting is this new bit of info we learned from an interview done earlier this month. Thanks to @mesasean for the video recapping the interview.

FROM BLIZZARD

Check out the most recent patch notes from Blizzard right HERE.

PATCH NOTE: Posted 7/6/16 a new patch is available for PC, PS4, and XB One which addresses a slew of tweaks to Competitive Mode. (Most changes focus on the PC side of things, and will be pushed to consoles in a later update.)

  • SUDDEN DEATH: The duration of Sudden Death has been adjusted across all maps from 1m45s to the following values:

  • Assault:

  • Hanamura – 1m35s

  • Temple of Anubis – 1m30s

  • Volskaya Industries – 1m35s

  • Escort:

  • Dorado – 1m30s

  • Route 66 – 1m35s

  • Watchpoint: Gibraltar – 1m35s

  • Hybrid: King’s Row – 1m30s

  • Numbani – 1m50s

  • Note: Sudden Death duration is unchanged for Hollywood and remains at 1m45s

  • COMPETITIVE PLAY:

  • [PC Only] Fixed a bug that caused the “Top 500” icon to incorrectly display for certain players in various places throughout the game UI.

  • Fixed an issue where if you left and rejoined an in-progress Competitive Play match, the game would still track the match as a loss in your placement match history and when determining the amount of Skill Rating you receive for completing a match even if your team won.

  • Note: You must be present for the conclusion of the match to be eligible for the win. If you leave a match and do not rejoin again before it’s over, it will count as a loss both in placement match history and when calculating your Skill Rating adjustment.

  • Fixed an issue where you would still receive a Competitive Play “leave” penalty even if you rejoined a match and completed it.

  • Note: If you leave a single Competitive Play match more than 3 times, you will receive a Competitive Play “leave” penalty even if you complete the match.

LUX EVENTS THE BATTLE OF THE GODS - 3v3 Tournament

After another week of crazy battles, chaotic scheduling issues, and matchmaking issues from Bungie's side of things, we've finally reached the end of the BATTLE OF THE GODS. It is with great excitement that we declare the winner of the tournament to be: TEAM HELIOS.

Next week we will have a short interview with the winners as well as a recap of the discussion we would like to have with all members of the competition to discuss what they thought of the entire event.

Let's also take a moment to thank ChexicanTaco98 and Freddy_Teddy_25 for their work with creating and promoting the event. You both did an excellent job!

Upcoming Event: MERCIFUL KNIGHTS - An Overwatch mini event

Last week we mentioned that we would announce our Overwatch event by the 5th... that didn't happen due to emergency attention required on the 3v3 Tournament... So before we provide the details, let's start with an apology for the delay. We strive to keep our schedule accurate and delay free... but things happen.

Alright... let's explain this event!

Team Setup: 4v4 - Teams must start each match with 2 Mercy and 2 Reinhardt. Map & Mode: Lijang Tower - CONTROL Modifiers: ANNOUNCED AFTERNOON MONDAY BEFORE THE EVENT (Need to do a small test run and will be looking for volunteers)

Scoring: Based on game mode rules - Control is a best of three mode, so each battle will be a best of three. Your team wins, everyone gains a point. Top 8 players will be matched in a final battle on Monday July 18th at 3:00 pm PST/6:00 pm EST.

Match Guidelines: Every time you're eliminated you MUST change characters. If you die as Mercy, you respawn as Reinhardt and vice-versa. No other restrictions.

Good luck heroes, you'll need it!

GUARDIANS OF THE MONTH

Last week we announced our first two Guardians of the Month, ChexicanTaco98 and HawkZoned. This week we asked the guys a few questions about their journey through Destiny.

Question #1: What do you truly enjoy in Destiny?

Hawk: "The one thing I truly enjoy about Destiny is the lore. I’m totally obsessed with it. I’ll spend hours a day participating in lore discussions on /r/DestinyLore and now I’m starting to write up these documents called Field Reports containing all known information about various things for the clan...the first one which completely details the Fallen will be the first one coming, and you can expect it on the website soon."

Chex: "Well as many people know what I truly enjoy in Destiny is messing around in the crucible. Whether it be in some sweats or just grinding with people from the clan or my group."

Q: If you could add any one thing to Destiny, what would it be?

Hawk: "I would add an infusion node to all Year 1 raid weapons and gear (except for Black Hammer- we have the Spindle for a reason). It doesn’t make sense that they’re going to keep King’s Fall relevant in Year 3 by allowing all Year 2 gear and weapons (legendary quality of course) to be infused to the new Light levels without touching the first two raids that became the pinnacle of the Destiny experience- Vault of Glass and Crota’s End."

Chex: "Lol, well obviously custom/private matches."

Q: What made you decide to play Destiny at all?

Hawk: "My best friend, who’s also in the clan and goes by Thunder_God6776 told me about Destiny the summer before it was released. He showed me the trailers for the game and I didn’t really care much for it and on launch week I decided to get the game and I was hooked on it ever since."

Chex: "My brother bought a ps4 and it was the OG Destiny bundle and that was the only game we had for a bit so I had to try it out. I haven’t played many games since."

Q: Since joining the Destiny universe, what has been your favorite part of the game?

Hawk: "My favorite thing about the game is easily the Vault of Glass. Everything surrounding it is amazing from the actual environments to the raid itself to the lore surrounding it. Totally amazing- even the way the armor looks… and of course Fatebringer!"

Chex: "Refer to question 1. The crucible is my home. For a long time I played solo but in the past couple months I have met some really cool people and they are my squad haha. Not a lot of stuff I enjoy more than running crucible matches with the fam."

Q: If you could bring one new feature to Lux Viatores, what would it be and why?

Hawk: "A clan store. I’d totally buy gear with our clan’s logo on it."

Chex: "Hmmmm, I don’t know if this counts as a feature but a weekly day for some PvP action in the clan. I feel like a lot of people put off PvP and it would be awesome if more people would get into it."

Thank you both for taking the time to answer our questions, and thank you for making Lux Viatores just better everyday with your love of the game.

If you'd like to know more about our Guardian of the Month program, or would like to be in the running for the honor of being featured in our update and on our website, all you need to do it be yourself, be respectful and be helpful. These two members have gone above and beyond the call of duty with their efforts in our community, and we're proud of what they do. We want to see your name here next!

GEAR OF THE WEEK

Warlocks had an eye-opener last week with the Nothing Manacles. This week our mighty Forgemaster is taking a look at the bane of many PvP-ers... The Last Word.

“Yours. Not mine.” - Renegade Hunter Shin Malphur to Dredgen Yor

"This week I decided to review the exotic hand cannon known as The Last Word. A PvP beast, although not as insanely dominant as it was in Year 1. Still one of the best weapons to use in your loadout. This weapon is probably my favorite in the game. Anyways let’s get down to the nitty-gritty.

PvP:

  • Fast rate of fire hand cannon (full-auto)

  • Has really good range even if base stats don’t tell you so

  • Amazing at close quarters

  • A lot of damage in a short amount of time

PvE:

  • Pick a different gun.

The Last Word is one of the best weapons in PvP and has been one of the most used guns for a while now. As far as perks go, I suggest you run with Soft Ballistics as a barrel perk and Perfect Balance down the middle.

A lot of people say that TLW doesn’t work for them and ask "How do you use this thing?!?!?" Well some good tips are to aim down the sights (only use hip fire at close quarters) and don’t just spam the trigger. Even though it is a full auto weapon, most of the time it is better if you tap the trigger when you need it. I find that a combination of holding down the trigger and tapping it works best. TLW takes some time to learn to use effectively but once you do it is a beast. For those PvE oriented, well, I would not recommend taking this into a raid or any PvE event for that matter.
